We invite you to become part of the CROSS-BORDER MEDIA CAMP on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the United Nations 2030 Agenda to achieve a global sustainable society: A training course for journalists, bloggers and journalism students from Belarus, Germany, Republic of Moldova, Poland and Ukraine on sustainability issues.

25 journalists from 5 countries

  • work in multinational groups

  • conduct cross-border research on sustainability issues

At the SDG Media Camp, you gain expertise from environmental experts from all five countries in the areas of:

  • Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
  • Climate change
  • Circular economy
  • Biodiversity
  • Sustainable agriculture and forestry
  • Sustainable tourism
  • Sustainable urban planning and construction

The CROSS-BORDER MEDIA CAMP offers you:

  • Intensive exchange with colleagues in 2 online (late afternoon-)workshops
  • A 5-day meeting in Berlin with visits to editorial offices, media organizations and research institutes
  • Lectures and discussions with experts from all 5 countries on sustainability topics
  • Practical tasks and interactive exercises
  • Exchange with trainers and environmental journalists from Germany in daily editorial meetings about your topics
  • Support with topic identification, expert contacts, research plan and the preparation of a grant application

Conditions for participation

The CROSS BORDER SDG MEDIA CAMP is aimed at journalists from Belarus, Germany, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine who have journalistic experience (print and online media, radio, TV, blogging) and are interested in sustainability issues.
At the end of the program, participants are expected to have worked in groups to create a research plan to submit to a funder for funding to implement the project.
Participants must be fluent in English and have valid travel documents (passport, visa).
The application deadline is July 31, 2022.

Financial conditions

Participation in the program is free of charge. Travel costs (economy class, arrival by train if possible), accommodation in 3- and 4-bed rooms in a youth guesthouse in the center of Berlin and meals will be covered by the organizers.Journalists are expected to participate fully in all modules, complete all practical tasks, participate intensively in the joint research and be present every day during the Media Camp in Berlin.

The program is funded by the German Foreign Office.
